As da esquerda distanciam você da afirmação (soam objetivas, ótimas para texto). As da direita assumem a perspectiva pessoal (boas para conversa e debate).

Para uma impressão direta, sem "like".

It seems difficult.
That sounds great.
You look tired.
+noun

… like + substantivo / frase

Com "like" quando vem um substantivo ou uma oração.

It looks like rain.
It sounds like she's upset.
It seems like a good plan.
! Regra: seem/sound/look + adjetivo (sem like) · + like + substantivo ou frase. Não misture: "looks difficult" ✓, "looks like difficult" ✗.

Os relative pronouns que faltavam: where para lugar, when para tempo, e whom para o objeto formal.

Cada um para seu contexto.

where= lugar
refere-se a um local
  • The town where I grew up.
  • The café where we met.
when= tempo
refere-se a um momento
  • The day when we met.
  • The year when she was born.
whom= objeto (formal)
pessoa como objeto
  • The man whom I met.
  • The client to whom I spoke.
! Whom é o objeto; who é o sujeito. Teste: se a resposta seria "him/her", use whom. Se seria "he/she", use who.

Duas frases viram uma

Ligar lugar e tempo com elegância.

where · substitui "in/at which"
This is the house where I was born.
= the house in which I was born
when · substitui "on/in which"
I'll never forget the day when we met.
= the day on which we met

Em conversa, when muitas vezes é omitido: "the day we met". E whom, embora correto, soa formal — no dia a dia troca-se por who ou that: "the man I met".
